Sunflower seeds defy the trend

SOFIA/KIEV. While prices for oilseeds such as rapeseed are currently on the rise again, farmgate prices for sunflower seeds from Bulgaria continued to decline.

Rising supplies and declining prices

Within one week, Varna quotations for black in-shells with a 96% purity have declined by EUR 10 per metric tonne to EUR 358 per metric tonne CPT. This is also putting pressure on the offers for bakery kernels. Some suppliers are nevertheless trying to compensate for the price increase at the end of 2019 with higher prices, which is why the price indications for prompt deliveries are currently quoted between EUR 0.76 and EUR 0.78 per kg DDP Germany.
