Sunflower seeds: further downward revisions

SOFIA. With each new report from the European Commission, lower estimates for the 2024 EU sunflower seed crop emerge. High prices are the reason for subdued demand.

EU production reduced to 8.041 million mt

In its latest report, the European Commission has once again made corrections to the crop estimates for the 2024/2025 season. While the data for most countries remained unchanged, the figures for Germany were revised downwards by 5.2% to 127,000 mt compared to previous expectations. Overall, EU-wide sunflower seed production is now expected to total 8.041 million mt, a decrease of 17.9% compared to the previous year.
