KYIV/DALIAN. Drought and a surge in demand for sunflower oil have impacted the market for sunflower seeds in Ukraine. By contrast, conditions are way too wet in China.

Low yields in Ukraine

As APK Inform reports sunflower quotations have hit a three-month high in Ukraine. Main drivers are the strong demand for sunflower oil coupled with adverse weather conditions. As official figures show Urkaine's monthly sunflower oil exports stood 47% higher in July than in June at 464,000 mt. This is mainly attributed to the EU as exports surged by 43% to 206,000 mt in July as compared with June. Exports to India are also on the rise as 121,000 mt were shipped to here in July. Total exports, however, stand 24% lower than last year at 4.58 mill
