Sunflower seeds: once again elevated pesticide levels

SOFIA/BUENOS AIRES. Elevated pesticide residues were also found in the second shipment of Argentine sunflower seeds. Meanwhile, the US Department of Agriculture has increased its crop estimate for the South American country by around 25%.

Massive upward revision of Argentine production

The US Department of Agriculture's new WASDE report was published at the beginning of this week. According to the latest data, the estimate for global oilseed production in 2025/26 has been significantly increased compared to the February report. In addition to an expected increase in rapeseed and cottonseed production, the forecast for sunflower seed production has also been revised upwards by a total of 4%. At 54.121 million mt, production would thus be 2.5% above last year's result.
