Sunflower seeds: first estimates for Ukraine

KYIV/DALIAN. Supplies are running low in China. Ukraine has issued the first crop estimates for 2025/2026. Oil mills have turned away from sunflower seeds in Bulgaria.

Heat to prompt sales in China

Sunflower seed sowing has been completed in Inner Mongolia and Gansu, the area is simial in size to last year. Prices were relatively stable at the end of May with quality supplies currently scarce in producing areas. Expectation is that prices will fall as soon as the weather turns hot in June since traders will be eager to clear inventories. Imported low-priced supplies have hit the market and exports are down.
