Sunflower seeds: EU estimates lowered by a further 7%

SOFIA/KYIV. In the latest report from the US Department of Agriculture, further major corrections have been made for individual sunflower seed growing regions. Meanwhile, Ukraine has set minimum exports for certain agricultural products for December 2024.

Larger crops in Russia and Ukraine

At the beginning of this week, the US Department of Agriculture published its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates Report (WASDE) and some of the corrections are likely to come as a surprise. For example, the USDA has reduced its estimate for EU-wide sunflower seed production by a further 6.9% to 8.78 million mt compared to the November report, while the European Commission is only forecasting 8.068 million mt.
