Sunflower seeds: EU imports more than 0.5 million mt from Argentina

KYIV/SOFIA. In Ukraine, farmers have almost finished sowing for the coming crop. In Bulgaria, prices remain stable. EU countries have imported more than half a million mt of sunflower seeds from Argentina this season.

Sowing almost complete

In Ukraine, the current sowing season is slowly drawing to a close. Sunflower fields have also been largely sown. By the start of this week, 4.861 million hectares had been sown, representing 97% of the planned area (approx. 5.01 million hectares). At this time last year, an estimated 5.017 million hectares had been sown, with the total acreage amounting to around 5.07 million hectares.
