Sunflower seeds: global outlook remains positive

WASHINGTON, D.C./SOFIA. The US Department of Agriculture’s forecast for global sunflower seed production remains optimistic. Coceral estimates the 2026 EU crop at just under 10 million mt.

Larger crops expected in the top-producing countries

Last week, the USDA published the latest WASDE report (World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates). However, the adjustments to the forecasts for global sunflower seed production in 2026 were modest this time, which also means that a record crop is still expected. Compared with the May figures, estimates for Russia’s crop were raised from 19.2 million mt to 19.5 million mt, bringing the global total to 62.064 million mt – an increase of 13.4% on last year.
