KYIV/SOFIA. Oilseed prices are still inching upwards in Ukraine. Demand is lacking for hulled sunflower kernels in Bulgaria.

Further declines possible

Sunflower seed quotations are slowly but surely rising in Ukraine. According to local media reports farmers would like to see prices ranging at UAH 27,000-28,000/mt, whereas current trading prices range at UAH 26,000-27,5000/mt. This unusually wide price gap is driven by the circumstance that some producers are partly holding back due to limited availability, whereas others need to sell.

The high prices for bakery kernels are still deterring buyers in Bulgaria. Yet, this has now promtped traders to go down a bit in price with offers
