Sunflower seeds: Kazakh results come as a surprise

SOFIA/DALIAN. High prices lead to lower trading activity. Meanwhile, the results for the 2024 Kazakh sunflower seed crop are surprising.

Yields are higher than expected

The US Department of Agriculture published the latest WASDE (World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates) report this week. While the current estimates were largely in line with the January data, there was nevertheless a noticeable correction in the production figures for Kazakhstan. The country is expected to have harvested a total of 1.843 million mt of sunflower seeds this season, compared to the last estimate of 1.4 million mt.
