SOFIA/ASTANA. Kazakhstan's oilseed production has reached a new record high this year. This is due in no small part to the significant increase in the sunflower seed crop.

Sunflower seeds account for 50% of Kazakhstan's oilseed crop

Kazakhstan's oilseed production achieved an all-time high in 2025. According to official statistics, this season's yield amounted to 4.95 million mt, almost half of which was sunflower seeds. According to its own figures, Kazakhstan harvested a total of 2.46 million mt of sunflower seeds in the 2025/26 marketing year (USDA estimate: 2.4 million mt).
