Sunflower seeds: prices are declining

SOFIA/KYIV. The arrival of the new crop is putting pressure on sunflower seed prices in the Bulgarian market. In Ukraine, around a third of the crop has been brought in. EU countries have increased their imports by almost 80% since the start of July.

Lower prices in Bulgaria

Following a slight delay in the sunflower seed harvest in Bulgaria, the new crop is now widely available on the market. Market players report a very good crop, and prices are coming under pressure. Commodity prices for Bulgarian sunflower seeds are now at a level of EUR 450-490/mt FCA Bulgaria, whilst hulled bakery kernels are being offered at EUR 920-1,000/mt FCA.
