SOFIA/KYIV. In the latest report from the US Department of Agriculture, the crop estimates for Russia and Ukraine were subsequently raised. Coceral has revised its cultivation forecast for the 2025 EU sunflower seed crop. Oilseed prices are under pressure.

Coceral expects growth of 17%

The sowing period for the 2025 EU sunflower seed crop is drawing to a close. Market players are confident that the acreage will be expanded compared to last year. However, whether production will also recover depends on how the weather behaves in the summer months. Both an excess of precipitation and extreme drought – which has become increasingly likely in recent years – would have a negative impact on yields.
