Sunflower seeds: prices reach 2.5-year high

SOFIA. Prices continue to rise in Bulgaria and the sky appears to be the limit. This has prompted the first suppliers to withdraw their offers.

Prices rise by EUR 0.10 per kg in only two months

High domestic demand from the oil mills has again driven up the prices for kernels this week. Black in shells, 96% purity are trading from EUR 340 per metric tonne CPT Varna, whereas actual market prices have already reached EUR 347 per metric tonne. The recent sharp rises in farmgate prices are a problem for some processors, who have already concluded contracts at much lower rates. As long as the prices remain unpredictable they will not accept any new orders.
