SOFIA/KYIV. In the new global 2025/2026 production estimate for sunflower seeds the USDA is more upbeat. Farmers may grow less soybeans in favour of other oilseeds in Ukraine.

More upbeat estimates

In April, the Foreign Agricultural Service of the US Department of Agriculture revised the global 2025/2026 sunflower seed production estimate slightly upwards. Total production should reach 54.7 million mt, which would be a 4% increase on last year. Prospects are more encouraging in Russia, the EU and China and South Africa, whereas the opposite is the case in Turkey.
