Sunflower seeds: Romania expects 50% larger crop

SOFIA/KYIV. Provided that sunflower seed yields recover, experts predict a significant increase in production in the EU. In Ukraine, growers have almost completed sowing.

EU production to increase by 17%

In the hope that yields will recover this season, the European Commission's current forecasts predict that EU sunflower seed production will increase significantly year-on-year in 2025 despite smaller acreages. The coming crop is estimated to total 9.666 million mt, which would be an increase of 16.7% compared to last year.
