Sunflower seeds: another sharp revision for EU production

SOFIA/BRUSSELS. Eurostat has sharply revised the EU production estimate for sunflower seeds. Supplies are still limited. High prices prevail in Ukraine.

Sharp revision

Eurostat has again revised the EU production estimate upwards in May. While the total production estimate still stood at 8.8 million mt in April, the figure has now been lifted to 8.9 million mt, which is 2% up on last year. Production prospects have improved in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, whereas the opposite is the case in France, for which the production estimate stands 16% lower than in April.
