SOFIA/KYIV. EU crop estimates for sunflower seeds range a shocking 900,000 mt lower than in spring. Limited supplies are driving the market in Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania.

EU crop estimates dip by 900,000 mt

Another season with high prices awaits the EU sunflower seed market. After the start of the harvest Eurostat sharply revised the 2025/2026 production estimates downwards with the latest projection only reaching 8.771 million mt. This is around 500,000 mt down on the July estimate and a stunning nearly 900,000 mt down on the April estimate.
