KYIV/SOFIA. Sowing is 6% complete for sunflower seeds in Ukraine. Prices are still on the rise. Farmers may switch form corn to oilseeds.

Sowing 6% complete

Sunflower seed sowing is continuing in Ukraine and comprised 293,600 ha or 6% at the start of the week. The Oblasts of Ternopil, Odesa and Mykolaiv account for 69,900 ha, 34,500 ha and 8,000 ha respectively. 

Raw material prices continued to rise last week. While the market remains somewhat subdued, the rising costs for oil and freight are driving up prices.
