Sunflower seeds: Traders contradict Coceral

SOFIA. Prompt deliveries for the current crop are becoming increasingly expensive. Contrary to this, the prices for the new crop are stable.

 

Crop estimates in Bulgaria contradicted

Smaller acreages, heat and drought are causing are proving great challenges in some regions this year. Yields are likely to be smaller. According to Coceral, production is to drop by 18% to 2.1 million mt in Romania, which is the largest producer within the EU. While Coceral estimates production in Bulgaria is at 1.77 million mt (-4.1%), traders in Bulgaria expect an even smaller production of 1.5-1.7 million mt.
