DALIAN. Chinese sunflower seed traders are hoping that the Gulfood fair will boost export trade. There is still sufficient supply available on the Chinese market.

Gulfood expected to boost exports

According to market players, the Chinese market has sufficient supplies of sunflower seeds. Data from the US Department of Agriculture shows that around 2.1 million mt were harvested in the 2025/2026 season – a whopping 20% increase on the previous year.

Traders are hoping that export demand will pick up with the end of Gulfood, which took place last week in Dubai. It therefore remains to be seen what impact the trade fair actually had on trading activity.
