Sunflower seeds: Ukrainian farmers start sowing

SOFIA/KYIV. Farmers in Ukraine have started sowing sunflower seeds for the 2025/2026 crop. Favourable weather conditions at the beginning of the growing season also give hope for the crops in the EU countries.

Ukraine plans to sow 5.082 million hectares

In the first week of April, Ukrainian farmers began sowing oilseeds for the coming crop. So far, sunflower seeds have been sown in nine regions of Ukraine and a total of 33,000 hectares had been sown by the end of last week, with a sunflower seed acreage of around 5.082 million hectares planned for the 2025/2026 season.
