SOFIA/CHISINAU. There is a huge gap between the estimates for the EU sunflower seed crop 2020 of the European Commission and Coceral. The expectations of the USDA are somewhere in between.

Clarity in the middle of September

The reports of poor yields and uncertainties are causing the prices for bakery kernels from the new crop to rise steadily. Some market players warn of rash decisions. Although the crop results to date are not satisfactory, they are still looking good in parts of Bulgaria, for example. Therefore, it will not be possible to assess what can actually be expected from this year's crop until mid-September at the earliest.
