More destinations for inshells
While in-shell walnuts were only exported to four destinations in September 2025, the list has now grown to nine. With a 79% rise in shipments Italy has maintained its position as main trading partner. By contrast, exports to Spain have dipped by 8%. Germany has entered the scene in fourth position. At 3,210 short tons the subtotal exports to Europe are 80% up on last year’s 1,784 short tons.
Turkey has witnessed a near fourfold uprise in shipments with Pakistan and Israel also purchasing small volumes. This brings the subtotal shipments to the Middle East and Africa to 1,277 short tons, more than four times as high as last year’s 309 short tons.
Contrary to this, US domestic shipments have dipped by 11%. Exports to Canada have even declined by 20%. The subtotal to North America thereby ranges 11% lower at 370 short tons as opposed to last year’s 416 short tons. China and Vietnam have also purchased limited volumes, thereby causing the subtotal for Asia to reach 167 short tons.
