Spain closely monitors developments in California

The prices in the spot markets in Spain and among the traders have risen massively since last week.  Valencia almonds are trading EUR 0.50-0.60 per kg higher. Larguetas are trading EUR 0.40 per kg higher and the prices for Marconas have risen by up to EUR 0.80 per kg.

The price surge is driven by the revised production estimates issued by the National Agricultural Statistics Service, which has cut production estimates to 998,000 mt. Initial estimates ranged at a record of 1.133 million metric tonnes
