Almonds: Imports to EU pick up in October

MADRID. Although imports to Europe have risen significantly in October, the imports of Californian almonds range 6% lower than last year. The situation in Spain is, however, different. Here the imports are on par.

 

Spain remains largest importer in Europe

Imports to Spain started off slowly in the new season. With the arrival of the new US crop deliveries picked up noticeably in October. Imports in October amounted to 9,332 mt, 15.7% over October 2017. A total of just below 20,500 mt of US almonds have been imported to Spain since the beginning of the season, almost the same as last year.
