MANILA. Export prices for Philippine desiccated coconuts have remained unchanged for months. For coconut oil and copra, however, the downward trend continues. Rising freight costs could change the situation for European importers.

Declining exports of desiccated coconuts

Philippine suppliers are maintaining their export quotations for desiccated coconuts at current levels. The average quotation is significantly below the level recorded in October 2025. On the domestic market, prices rose slightly compared with last week. June exports declined by 8.6% year-on-year to 12,301 mt, whilst export revenues declined by 15.9%; this is according to the latest report from T.M. Duché.

Copra and coconut oil under pressure

Improved availability of copra at origin and subdued demand are weighing on the European coconut oil market. Prices fell again compared with last week. In the Philippines, too, prices for crude and refined coconut oil declined. According to T.M. Duché, on 23 October average millgate prices were around 32% below last year’s level, whilst farmgate prices were around 35% lower. At the same time, the price differential between coconut oil and palm kernel oil narrowed significantly.

Transport costs rose once again. The Drewry World Container Index rose for the second week running in the week ending 22 October. Freight rates increased particularly on routes between Asia and Europe. For European importers, the higher transport costs could offset some of the savings made through lower commodity prices.
