MADRID. Traders in Spain have reduced imports from California last month by about 20%. Organic almonds are trading stable for now.

Nominal price declines

After some turbulent weeks the prices for Spanish almonds have stabilised for now. A very few sizes and types are, however, trading 0.05-0.10 EUR/kg lower than last week.

Spain is reckoning with a good crop of more than 60,000 mt. Imports from California tend to drop over the summer months. In May imports from California declined by 20% to 7,324 mt as compared to May 2017. This season’s total imports amount to 78,186 mt so far – a similar value was observed at the same time last year.
