Almonds: US production may exceed expectations

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Almonds are trading higher in the spot markets in Spain. Due to the decline in production, however,thr exporters are reluctant to make offers. At the same time, market players in teh US are reckoning that production will be better than the official estimates..

Further price declines in Spain

Despite last week's heavy rain in Alicante, Valencia and Murcia, the prices for organic almonds have again declined in Spain. Almonds are on average trading EUR 0.10-0.20 per kg lower in Murcia and in albacete than last week. Contrary to this, the prices in Reus are stable to slightly rising. Bio-Valencias are trading EUR 0.20 per kg higher. Exporters in Spain have also gone down in price. Valencia and Marcona almonds are trading around EUR 0.10 per kg lower than last week.
