MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Californian almond growers are taking measures against insect infestations, after last year's almond crop suffered from above-average sized damages.

Spain holds its ground
Spanish almonds are offered for similar prices as last week; only larger Valencia almonds showed a slight increase. The frosty conditions in the Spain and California at the beginning of the year were initially cause for concern but did not manage to support prices. Market participants expect that production will at least rival that of last year.
