Almonds: Time to wait and see

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Although the conditions for the flowering period have been anything but ideal in California, the market has so far been spared from horror reports.

Prices remain stable

The prices for conventional almonds have remained stable in Spain. Contrary to this, the prices for organic almonds have declined. The prices for Valencia almonds, natural, 11-14 mm have for instance dropped by around 20 cents/kg and currently range at 7.70 EUR/kg EXW.

Demand remains good. Some farmers have held back some almonds to achieve higher prices. With success it seems since the prices in Spain have risen since the beginning of the year. As reports of frost damage or other price-driving factors have so far failed to materialise,
