MALATYA. The farmers’ wish for support from the government is the common thread running through the entire dried fruit market.

Dried apricots from Turkey, however, have little competition from other origins to fear, and traders see no reason why the government should step in to help with subsidies.

Export volume is far from exhausted
Prices for dried apricots are significantly lower than last year, not least due to the good availability. So far, the lower prices do not have much of an impact concerning exports, though, since buyers considered the prices for too high still. In spite of this, there is not much leeway downwards anymore.
The last loadings will be effected at the beginning of December already, since later shipments would fall into the holiday season.
