Blue poppy seeds: Buyers may be forced to accept high prices

CHRUDIM. Obtaining poppy seeds in the Czech Republic currently involves nerve-racking negotiations. The prices are still trading on a 10-year high and it is almost impossible to purchase any seeds.

 

Offers are highly limited

The market prices are still ranging at a 10-year high of 4.00 EUR/kg DDP Germany. Virtually no sales are taking place. All that is happing are contract negotiations. Problem is that the high prices are deterring buyers.

Farmers requiring cash are the great exception, which is why supplies are highly limited. It is impossible to obtain feasible offers for prompt delivery with only few offers available for single truckloads below market price at 3.85 EUR/kg DDP Germany for blue poppy seeds and 2.71 EUR/kg DDP Germany fo
