Blue poppy seeds: Buyers seek more attractive alternatives

... as little as 1,598 mt ca. 30% less than last year (September 2017: 2,332 mt). At 486 mt, shipments to Austria remained relatively stable. Contrary to this, exports to Russia declined by 40% to 211 mt. Between September 2017 and August 2018, the Czech Republic shipped 20,233 mt of poppy seeds abroad. The main buyers were Russia with around 6,000 mt, Austria (3,828 mt) and Poland (2,428 mt). Germany ranks fourth (1,862 mt).
