Blue poppy seeds: exports rise by 50%

CHRUDIM. The supply squeeze in the second half of 2018/2019 prompted many buyers to stock up on large volumes at the beginning of 2019/2020.

Decline in shipments to Germany

Although supplies were limited low in the first few weeks after the harvest, exports were good as many contracts had already been concluded. As much as 1,533 metric tonnes of poppy seeds were exported from the Czech Republic in August, which is an increase of 48% over last year. Russia and Austria have remained leading export destinations. Exports to Poland have risen by 230% to 219 metric tonnes.
