CHRUDIM. The poppy fields pare in full bloom in the Czech Republic. Especially now, however, unfavourable weather conditions may have a serious impact on production.

Traders play it safe

The plants are developing very in the Czech Republic. And yet, a critical point has been reached as market players report that the poppies can currently cope better with one week of heat than with rain every other day.

The new crop is currently trading in a range of 2.00-2.05 EUR/kg FCA Czech Republic. Traders refuse to set their prices below 2.00 EUR/kg. There are, however, some exceptions with some suppliers providing lower prices on a speculative basis.
