CHRUDIM. For weeks, the blue poppy market has been waiting for news on the new crop in the Czech Republic. Official production estimates have now been issued.

No trace of crop damages

For weeks, the market was concerned over the possible damages  the high temperatures in the western parts of teh Czech Republic may have caused. Yields were expected to be well below average. Some market players even reckoned that production may fall short of 20,000 metric tonnes. These fears have now, however, vanished into thin air. Traders have now been able to get a first impression of the new crop on site and have found no traces of crop damage. On the contrary, traders now estimate production at 23,000-25,000 metric tonnes.
