CHRUDIM. The Czech blue poppy market is getting ready for the summer break, but buyers probably have to prepare themselves for a higher price level in the new season.

Prices at the same level as last year

Prices for prompt deliveries have stabilised at a level of 1.25 EUR/kg DDP Germany. Not much has been happening on the market lately, both on the buyer and seller sides, and it should get even quieter in July.

The poppy plants are still developing well. They should start blooming soon. Production is expected to reach 25,600 mt, initial offers for the new crop are at a similar level to the beginning of 2016/2017, namely at 1.38 EUR/kg DDP Germany.
