CHRUDIM. The market in the Czech Republic continues to be difficult. Although most traders cannot physically offer any seeds, the prices have surged.

 

Hard to tell

First it was too wet, and then too dry. The conditions for this year’s crop are anything but ideal. Rain delayed sowing and then the dry weather raised concerns over possible crop damages with some market players expecting losses of up to 20-30%. Depending on the yield this year’s poppy seed crop could amount to an estimated 22,00-28,000 mt. Although suppliers report that their trial fields are not doing too well, market players are urged no to pay too much attention to such news as these fields are not necessarily representat
