CHRUDIM/ANKARA. Traders in the Czech Republic are now confronted with the consequences of their risky speculations. Meanwhile, the TMO has purchased large volumes in Turkey.

100 Czech Korunas for blue poppy seeds?

The new crop has arrived in the market. Traders in the Czech Republic are now able to offer prices for blue poppy seeds they can indeed supply. Their offers are, however, limited to a few tonnes, problem being that most farmers and traders prefer to withhold their products for now. The prices have already doubled to 3.90-4.00 EUR/kg DDP Germany since last year. Rumour has it that the farmers in the Czech Republic are already demanding as much as 100 CZK/kg for cleaned seeds.
