CHRUDIM. After the farmers in the Czech Republic rejoiced about massive price surges, they were brought back down to earth again.

After a speculator briefly caused surges in price, it is now time to sober up. The demand simply was not strong enough to maintain the high price level. They have currently stabilised at a level of 1,180 EUR/mt FCA Czech Republic.

Lateral trend

Market players are expecting lateral price movement in the near future. The reason for this is the smaller poppy acreage. Currently, the seeded area is estimated to be 10% smaller. In addition, more white poppy is being planted. This year once again, the weather will play a decisive role.
