CHRUDIM. Blue poppy seeds are available again, for those who are willing to meet the price demands of the farmers in the Czech Republic. Supplies are, however, limited.

Uncertain sowing conditions
Acreage was initially set to increase by 30% this year. Adverse weather conditions, however, forced the farmers to reportedly plough up equally large amounts of land again. The extent to which fields with seeds that failed to grow need to be tilled again, is still unclear. There are no official reports available with estimates for the 2018 crop.

In assuming that acreage equals that of last year and yields are average, this year's poppy seed crop could approximately amount to 26,000 mt, which would be a 20% increase ov
