Buckwheat: 37% smaller crop in Ukraine

KYIV/DALIAN. The buckwheat crop in Ukraine will be significantly smaller this year than in 2024. In China, the market remains stable due to regionally fluctuating acreage and cautious sellers.

Ukrainian crop significantly smaller than last year

In contrast to other agricultural commodities, the buckwheat harvest in Ukraine was largely completed by the end of November, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. With 59,400 hectares, 97% of the acreage was harvested. The average yield here was 1.39 mt/ha, bringing total production to 82,700 mt. Last year, the harvest was completed even earlier, although the acreage was significantly larger at 88,100 hectares.
