DALIAN/KYIV. Due to the New Year celebrations, the Chinese market has remained quiet in recent weeks. Ukraine recorded a significantly smaller crop than last year.

Quiet weeks in China

Buckwheat stocks are sufficient for the time being this year, with traders and processors focusing primarily on reducing existing inventories. In addition, prices for imported buckwheat are at a similar level to those for domestic goods, which is helping to stabilise domestic prices. In some regions, prices are even lower.

Due to the two-week Chinese New Year celebrations, trading activity has remained moderate since the beginning of February, with companies primarily limiting themselves to conducting business with existing customers.
