Cashews: delays and record imports

NEW DELHI/BRUSSELS. In Côte d’Ivoire, the crop cannot hold up to initial expectations. Quality concerns, delays and a success story are impacting shipments from West Africa. Prices are trending in the same direction in Vietnam and in India. Demand dynamics differ in Japan, Canada and the EU.

Crop just below expectations in Côte d’Ivoire

Crop estimates range at 1.325 to 1.4 million mt in Côte d’Ivoire. While this is slightly below earlier expectations, it should be noted that this still is the second-largest crop in the country's history, second only to 2025. However, the quality of the crop is noticeably lower than in recent seasons.

Local factories bought over 700,000 mt of raw cashew nuts (RCN) and plan to process more than 600,000 mt internally. Expectation is that total exports will reach around 600,000 mt, with Vietn
