Cashews: INC raises production estimates

HANOI/NEW DELHI. The INC has updated its global production estimates. Due to large supplies the processors in Vietnam can offer their cashew kernels at much lower prices than the competition.

Low farmgate prices have reduced the production costs for cashew kernels in Vietnam. Processors have happily passed on the lower prices to their customers stimulate sales. In the first nine months of 2018, the prices for cashew kernels fell by around 30% to 3.20-3.40 USD/lbs (6.20-6.60 EUR/kg) in Vietnam. In October, however, the firm demand from the USA and the EU caused prices for Cashews, W320 to rise again to 3.35-3.60 USD/lbs FOB.
