Coriander: Indian Coriander prices are stable cause of Imported cargo is much lower prices

India Imports Coriander from Bulgaria

Mumbai: Coriander import from Bulgaria to India has raised 70% to 6800 tons in August. This information was given by one of the exporter of Bulgaria.

According to this company, Coriander is available at a very lower price in Bulgaria and the demand for India in this kindly of coriander quality is quite good. Last year in August at the same time, 4 thousand tonnes of coriander was exported from Bulgaria to India.

According to Indian importers, Coriander is being imported $473 per tonne and medium grade coriander at $400 a tonne. The imported coriander has 36 percent duty and the currency exchange rate is about US$@Rs. 64 and the import cost of coriander of better quality is Rs 41,180  (US$643) and the median grade coriander costs Rs 34820 (US$544) per mt.

On the other hand, Badami Variety Coriander is in Rs. 58000  (US$906) and Eagle Variety Coriander is selling Rs. 60000  (US$937) per mt in Dhania Mandi Kota of Rajasthan.

Imported coriander is being sold at high prices by mixing in Indian variety, thereby increasing the margins of the traders. Importers say that in India from September to December, there will be a shipment of about 20 thousand tonnes of coriander from the Bulgaria. According to the Indian Spice Board, the country imported 44,485 tonnes of coriander in the year 2016-17, which is 75.80% more than the year before. Bulgaria contributes 30% of the world production and plays important role for coriander Market in the world.

Imported cargo is mainly used in Powder making as well as oil extraction purposes only and also for blending in local curries powder as blending to reduce the cost of the final product.
