Dried beans: mung bean supplies are shrinking

BEIJING. Mung bean stocks are 40% lower than last year, and imports from Myanmar have also declined significantly. Adzuki bean prices appear to have bottomed out. Red kidney beans are receiving some support.

Demand for Chinese black kidney beans continues to develop positively in key markets. Interest in high-quality grades is growing, particularly in Japan, South Korea and the EU. Additional impetus is coming from their use in plant-based meat alternatives, baked goods and food supplements, which is particularly boosting exports of premium goods.
