Dried beans: shift in red kidney bean exports

BEIJING. There have been significant changes in Chinese red kidney bean exports this year. The markets for black kidney beans and adzuki beans remain quiet, while mung bean stocks are strikingly low.

Black kidney beans

Even after the Chinese New Year holidays, export activity remained largely dormant, whilst domestic supplies of black kidney beans in the main growing regions remained sufficient. Traders and processors continued to reduce existing stocks. As the end of the year approached in China, farmers showed little willingness to sell, keeping commodity prices stable and supporting market prices. On the demand side, momentum remains subdued.
