Flaxseed: Canada’s exports on the rise

OTTAWA. Canadian flaxseed exports have increased this season. Sowing is underway, and the acreage is expected to be around 20% larger than last year.

Crop forecast remains optimistic

The flaxseed trade is going well in Canada. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has raised its export forecast for the current season to 250,000 mt, and according to Statistics Canada, flaxseed worth USD 47.871 million was exported from Canada in the first quarter of 2026 (Jan–Mar). This represents an increase of almost 30% compared to the previous year, despite prices being lower than last year.
